I have a question...

…about Givto

A. How does Givto work?
Givto is run by a registered charity called the Better Giving Partnership. When you give using Givto you are donating to the Better Giving Partnership. As a registered charity, we claim Gift Aid from the government on your donation if you are eligible. This means that your chosen charity doesn’t have to. We then pass your donation and Gift Aid on to your chosen charity. We take a small fee from your donation and Gift Aid. This helps us to cover the costs involved in running Givto. As a charity we are not interested in profit and we do everything we can to keep the fee as low as possible. The Better Giving Partnership trustees oversee everything the charity does. Legally, they have the final say on how all donations are spent. But the only time we wouldn’t pass your donation on to your chosen charity is if they ceased trading. If this happened we would let you know and ask you to choose another charity.
B. Who runs Givto?
Givto is run by a registered charity called the Better Giving Partnership. We are governed by a board of trustees and everyone who works on Givto is a volunteer. We take a small fee from your donation and Gift Aid. This helps us to cover the costs involved in running Givto. As a charity we are not interested in profit and we do everything we can to keep the fee as low as possible.
C. How much can I give?
You can choose to give £5, £10, £20, £50 or £75 per month. If you would like to change the amount you give each month, just contact us at help@givto.org
D. Does all the money I give go to the charity I choose?
We take a small fee from your donation and Gift Aid. This helps us to cover the costs involved in running Givto. As a charity we are not interested in profit and we do everything we can to keep the fee as low as possible. We take a fee on donations and on Gift Aid claims of 3%. Our payment service provider GoCardless Ltd takes a transaction fee on Direct Debits of 0.75% + 15p + VAT. This means that the total fee on donations is 3.75% + 15p + VAT. The total fee on Gift Aid claims is 3%. This means that if you donate £20 and you are eligible for Gift Aid:
Your donation Go Cardless fee Givto fee Gift Aid Givto Gift Aid fee Your charity gets Total fees
£20 -36p -60p +£5.00 -15p £23.89 £1.11

…about the charities

A. When do I get to choose my charity?
Every month we send you an email to let you know it’s time to choose from three charities. You should receive this email in the first few days of the month. You then have seven days to choose your charity. If you do not receive this email, please check your email junk folder first. If it’s not there, please contact us at help@givto.org
B. How do you decide which charities I can choose from?
Charities regsiter with Givto and our volunteer team selects the three we will feature each month. We try to select three that give you a good mix of different causes and sizes. All the charities we work with are registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. You can visit the charity’s website to find out more about them, or visit the Charity Register which holds information about how they are run, how they spend their money, and their annual reports and accounts.
C. What if I forget to choose a charity?
If you do not manage to choose a charity within seven days, we will select one at random for you. We will send you an email to let you know which charity your money went to.
D. What if I change my mind after I have chosen the charity?
Don’t worry. Please contact us at help@givto.org within 24 hours if you change your mind about your chosen charity and we can change it. After this, your money may already be on its way to your chosen charity so it is not possible to change.
E. Do the charities receive information about me?
No. We do not pass on any information about you to your chosen charities. If you would like to find out more about a charity or connect with them, please visit their website or social media.
F. Can I nominate a charity to be included on Givto?
Yes - we are always looking for great charities to feature on Givto. If there's a charity you’d like us to feature, why not encourage them to register with us. Alternatively, get in touch and tell us about them at help@givto.org and we will contact them.
